We’re excited to support The Peace and Unity Summit, “hosted by the Office of Wet’suwet’en, in support of the land defenders who continue to uphold Wet’suwet’en law in the face of police violence and Coastal Gas Link’s fracked gas pipeline”.
This two-day virtual event is in partnership with Dogwood Initiative, the David Suzuki Foundation, Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition and others.

At Geek Design, we prioritize working with nonprofits and other organizations that are doing work that is important to us as individuals, and as a company. In Mexico, the home country of two of our designers, there is currently a water crisis evolving in the Monterrey region that is the direct result of the exploitation of natural resources by corporations. Without the work of these important land defenders, Canada is at significant risk of going down this same destructive road.

This event landing page was produced in a very short turnaround time, at approximately two weeks. The client provided us with written and visual content and we helped them to evolve their brand palette by adding two complementing colours and using them throughout the site. In our development process, we always like to account for the look, feel and usability of your landing page to create a meaningful and relevant experience.
Call of action buttons CTA (UI buttons) are vital links you use on your landing page to navigate users to act. For this landing page, we decided to add them on Menu, Home Page Banner, and 2 more sets placed strategically through the page. We suggested to the client using 2 different types, one is to register for the rest of the activities, and one more to watch the event directly on Vimeo. Incorporating a registration link and a link to the event live stream makes for a simple and streamlined user experience for event attendees.

We decided on a sticky menu for this landing page with transparency to give it the Geek Design touch. We like to design this type of menu because it makes all the navigation easy and the transparent background always keeps it looking on brand.

Another important feature for this event landing page is the Sign the petition CTA. The user will then be redirected to your google form. This keeps their information private to you and for some users, this is important.
A slideshow video was created for the home page because it makes the site light to stream and looks interactive and alive, we also added a gallery and a blog. Once the client takes over the management of the site, the client can add their content through a blog.
The Peace and Unity Summit will take place on July 27 and July 28, click the “Watch Now” button and don’t forget to read The Declaration Statement. If you want to show your support please sign their petition.
